Tip - Carry your MP3 with you on trips or drives, and have it loaded with one or two good meditation recordings. Don't listen while driving (that can be dangerous), but when you stop for a quick break you can have a short meditation session. Take a few deep breaths and walk around a bit afterwards to be sure you are wide awake for driving again.

Focus - Buddhist monks were given vision tests by Australian scientists, in which each eye was shown a different image. A person's attention would normally fluctuate back and forth, but it was found that the monks could focus on just one of the images. This ability to bypass or override the normal response shows how the brain can be trained, according to scientists writing in Current Biology.

It is becoming increasingly popular due to growing evidence for the health benefits.Recent studies have found that 20 minute of meditation daily can relieve back pain, depression, headaches, and anxiety. Scientists explain these effects as due to the lowering of blood pressure, the slowed heart and breathing rates, and biochemical changes caused by meditation. There is also evidence meditating promotes more restful sleep and boosts the body's immune system.
